Dear Juno,
I must say that I am very surprised about what you chose to do in your situation, and I respect you for what you did. Most teenagers in your exact situation would take the cowardly way out and just have an abortion instead of dealing with the consequences of their choice to have unprotected sex. If someone was raped or their health would be affected in an extremely dangerous way then I would have a different approach to this “inconvenience” .In that case I guess it would be fine for the woman to decide if she wanted to terminate that life, she has the right to do that.
If someone decided to get together with their partner one night and not expect something to happen after that, then they should probably go back to school and be taught a lesson or two in sexual education. If I was in your position, I honestly don’t know what I would do, I just know that my parents would most likely disown me and I would have to accept the big responsibility that would change my future forever. I could never get an abortion that’s for sure, because I don’t believe that it would be the right choice for me, especially if I knew that it would happen after having unprotected sex with someone. At the same time I could never see myself in that situation because I am not really that type of person, I don’t see the point of dating in high school or sleeping with someone who you really have no interest in marrying.
I have been taught, and believe that you should be married before even thinking about starting a family; you should also be more mature and have an education after high school. It was a big choice for you, but in the end I think you made the best decision. Because you gave someone the greatest gift that a woman could ever receive, and that is the gift of life, and becoming a mother. Just remember to be a little more careful with your actions involving the opposite sex next time. It all comes down to the same thing every time and that is to take responsibility for your actions. You did a great thing and I applaud you for that.
